Went out to dinner with Joan last night at Bella Italia. Had a big storm and television went off.

Things I want do do today:

AMA -- Finish the 6 bios I have set aside.
Send in Seminary money
Finish reading Jeremiah's s new book.
Start the writing on Larkin again and get one chapter more done.
Get my prescription refilled.

Call about cruises and projects and notify travel people.

Can I do it? Let me know.

Friday, July 30, 2010

Friday and I can sleep in --no appointments until dinner. Phone rang at 7:30 and I let it go to audex. No message. probably the diabetes association again for the third time this week. I am going to dig in this weekend and make some of this happen. I have just been keeping up with dailies and letting the big things go.

Things I did yesterday:

Had appointment with Steve at the Security system and he gave me a bid. I also talked to him about my lights flickering and he said that I should have the system I have now replaced by a breaker box. John Haney said he would come today but he said that yesterday.

Went out to lunch for my birthday with Dr. Michelle Brune and Dr. Paula Smith and we had a good time trouncing the administration. They take me out every year. Paula gave me cards and post it notes which I love.

Received AMA material from Steve Limbaugh and Brad Wigger. I am now down to needing three more: Mike, Charles Hunt and Addison Lawrence. Now I need to figure this out and how to get the photographs on it. Downloading is my next adventure. I also need to figure out stuff that I have been laying aside for Jordan and Liz. Both of them have other things that they would rather do.

Things I want to do today:

l. Get caught up with everything I have on my notebook and straighten the house. I aim to get this done.

Wednesday, July 28, 2010

Things I did yesterday:

l. Worked with Liz and she did the grocery shopping, printed out the contract and formatted the page of the book. She is worth the money and I love it when she is here.

2. Went to lunch with Diane Sides and Debbie Fulton from the President's staff and it was fun to talk to them. Debbie was robbed and wants me to get a security system which I want to do.

3. Went to dinner with John Bierk and enjoyed that. I love his wit.

4. Talked on the phone to Cathryn Adams in Jeff City who used to be Warren's secretary.

Things I want to do today:

l. Have someone look at this electricity. I have called Greg Brune to come look at it and I will call John Haney again. All night long I thought about the house catching on fire. I am not going thru this again.

2. Cathy of Reruns came by and picked up the clothes I had for her. I am so delighted when I get rid of things. She gave me a $77 check for what she had already sold and that is good--spending money. Mama used to love getting those checks.

3. Going out to lunch today with Elizabeth Shelton. That will be fun. I want to talk to her about printing a book and what she knows.

Hope to get thru the maze of tasks I have in my notebook also today. Good luck, sucker!

Sunday, July 25, 2010

Bright sunny morning and I am going to church with Judi Hutson. That will be a switch for me. I am trying to put my life together again after retirement and life in Charleston and I am finding that there is much to do. I am a lucky person.

Yesterday:

Had a birthday lunch at Bella Italia with Bev and Ann Hickam and Debbie Bickings, Amy Bickings and little Mason. Bev gave me a turquoise necklace which is beautiful, Debbie gave me a silver chained clutch which Ilove and Amy gave me a gift card to andy's. I told them that I would wear them last night to Jerry Fords to a party and I did.

Joan and I went to fund-raiser for Janet Robert at Jerry and Margaret Ford's house last night and it was so good to see all the Democrats that I have known for so long. I really had a wonderful time but it was hot and crowded and we only stayed about an hour.

I am glad to get back into the swing of life again. Plays heck with my writing but gives me something to write about. I need more social life, I think.

Today:

Going to church with Judi Hutson.
Don't have a lot of other plans. Have a lot to do; just don't want to do it today.

Saturday, July 24, 2010

Today is Betty and Warren's birthday. Can't believe he is gone. Can't believe the way circumstances have turned out but we must press on and remember the best that we've lived through.

Yesterday, Joan Gohn and I shopped until we dropped in St. Louis and enjoyed every moment. It was too hot to shop but we survived. I came home and Shad Burner, the alumni director, came by with a card. Ken Dobbins sent a card also and I responded was he too cheap to take me to lunch--emailed to Diane Sides. I did a phone interview correction with Russ Withers before I left.

I can't believe I did this but I kept track of everyone who sent a card, FB, email or visit or gift. Todate there are 89 people. That is something of which I am proud! It makes you think that you are not forgotten even though you are retired.

I am going to lunch with Bev Hickam, Barb Kinsey and Debbie Bickings today and then Joan and I are going to a party at Jerry Ford's tonight. No, I am not lonely with lunches every day next week. Can't believe it.

All I know today is gratitude.

July 23, 2010 MY BIRTHDAY

So it's my birthday! I love it when this happens and it has only happened 72 times in my life. It makes me feel special. Even got a card from the President Ken Dobbins today. Could he have heard that I was trying to get the Board of Regents position. Cynical me!

Facebook is great and batch email because they allow you to stay in touch and I like to do that. I am going to St. Louis with Joan Gohn today to shop all day and road trip it.

What I did yesterday:

Interviewed Earl Holland by phone.
Went to lunch with Mike Richey.
Went to Ste. Genevieve with Jeff and Linda Hutson for the visitation of Eugene Coffman. He was my president at Perry-Ste. Genevieve chapter and was a constant friend. Then we went to the restaurant there and lifted a glass to Charles Hutson. I still miss him.
Made arrangements to go to lunch with Michelle Brune.
Did FB.
Got work in from Dr. Margerum.

What I want to do today:

Enjoy the day with Joan.
Talk to Russ Withers who has some questions
Got nothing else planned.
Sent AMA email batch and family email batch.

I have received a card from Betty Warford, email greetings from Amy Galemore and Amanda Warford, call from Jennie Cooper. That is it so far from the family. I want to keep track because that is a fleece for me. I expected to hear from all of these people.

Wednesday, July 14, 2010

Sara left this morning for Cincinnati after being here for the weekend for her class reunion. She seemed to have a great time. We went to Charleston yesterday and went to Jim's house where he was packing. She looked over his house and then went to Betty Ann's. We all went out to eat at the Mexican place.

Jim gave Sara a beautiful English plate and a brass bed. She got it in the car. This is the same bed that there has been such a fight about and now it is gone. We did not go to Julia or Betty's because we ran out of time. And did not want to hear the fight.

I need to physically work today. Sara got the bathroom painted and fixed an arrangement on the front porch and on the china cabinet in the dining room. The chairs are to be here sometime this week. I can't wait to see them. In the meantime, I will be cleaning up the house and physically working.

Tuesday, July 13, 2010

She also did an arrangement for the front porch and the dining room and that is good.

On our way now to Charleston.

Sara went to her dinner for the class reunion and got in at 3:00. Needless to say, we were not in a hurry to jump up and work today. We did go out to eat lunch at Pasta House and then went to Trees and Trends to buy some stuff. I want her to do something in my bathroom and my dining room but stores are closed. Hence, we are off the hook.

I did the announcement for Bailey's wedding but I have to get Jordan to come send it for me. Deanne Welch just called for her and wanted to see the wedding pictures so she will be coming over. I need to remember to call Elizabeth Shelton and Bryan Young to come and do lunch from the festivities. I am tired too. I don't think I will plan much for the rest of the day.

This is the Tuesday that I love twice a month. Gloria is here to clean the house and Liz is here to do computer work. Jordan is helping more and more and that is good. I like to make lists out and watch someone else accomplish stuff that I can't do. Tonight I am going to winery with Bill Prost and then out to eat. I also like to have things that get me out of the house.

Hariett called to say that Carolyn Howlett Fox had two strokes. I can't see how she can make it. One of my old school chums. She also said that Betty sold her big house. I hope that this is true and she can get into the Cullison Place.

Sara is coming at the end of the week. Yeh!
